How to Configure Leadster's New Chat Triggers

Triggers define when and how Leadster's chat automatically opens for visitors on your website, based on their behavior. Now it's even more flexible and smarter! You can activate up to 3 triggers at the same time.

All these settings — both the choice of triggers and how the chat is displayed — can be configured independently for desktop and mobile. This way, you ensure a personalized experience for each type of device!

How to Set It Up

  1. Log in to your Leadster account.
  2. Go to the “Manage Flows” tab.
  3. Choose the flow you want to edit and click on Step 2: “Customize for your audience”.
  4. Scroll down until you find the section called “Chat Triggers”. In this section, you will see all the available trigger options and display models.

What Triggers Are Available?

Time on Page (Enabled by default)

The chat opens after the visitor stays on the page for a set amount of time.

Example: 60 seconds on desktop, 10 seconds on mobile.

Inactivity Time

Opens the chat when the visitor stops interacting with the page for a certain time.

💡 Ideal for re-engaging inactive users.

Page Scroll

Triggers the chat when the visitor scrolls down a certain percentage of the page.

Example: The chat opens when the visitor scrolls down 60% of the page.

Number of Clicks on the Page

The chat opens when the visitor performs a specific number of clicks.

Example: After 10 clicks on desktop or 20 clicks on mobile.

Click on Page Element (New!)

The chat opens when the user clicks a button, link, or any element with a specific CSS class.

💡 Perfect for aligning with your website’s CTAs.

Number of Pages Visited

The chat opens after the visitor navigates through a specific number of pages.

Example: The chat opens after the visitor accesses 4 pages.

Cursor Leaves the Screen

Detects when the user tries to leave the page (moves the cursor outside the browser tab) and automatically opens the chat.

💡 Great for recovering opportunities before they exit.

You can also choose the option “Open the chat only if one of the triggers is true”, making your strategy even more precise and non-intrusive.

In addition to triggers, you can now choose from four different ways to display your chat on the page!

Available Display Models:

Standard Chat

The classic! The chat appears in the corner of the screen, discreet yet effective.

Focused Standard Chat

Similar to the standard chat, but with a powerful twist: the website background becomes darkened, bringing more focus to the chat conversation.

Pop-up

The chat appears as a window that partially covers the screen, grabbing attention without being intrusive.

Full Screen

The chat takes up 100% of the screen, offering a fully immersive experience — perfect for specific pages or campaigns that require more focus.

And There’s More!

You can also control how often the chat appears to returning visitors.

Example: Show it once every 30 days to avoid being repetitive.

Amazing, right?
